Nope, that is the water drain bucket to catch the water and wet pellets.

Pour a little water on the drip/drain pan…to make sure it drains properly.

If anyone took what I said to mean take everything off above the firebox and pour water in it or pour water in the hopper either has a sick sense of humor or should sell their pellet grills. I was simply talking about ensuring the drip/drain pan has the correct angle to drain grease properly.
