How do I use the griddle? I’ll lose a lot of heat if I’m cooking on it like a flat top.

It is somewhat impractial to use it with an open grill unless you have the latest version of the RT700 or above. If you look at the recommended high temperature for them, they shouldn’t go much above 450F ambient which would put them at about 550F. You just have to make sure the cooker is on long enough to get them really hot. You may also think about a cast iron skillet.

Yeah I should have done some research. Thinking I was going to stand there like a short order cook making breakfast for the family. When I didn’t see any YouTube videos using the griddle with the 590 that should have cued me in.
I did search, but can I set an alarm when my probe reaches a certain temperature? If so,how? Please and thank you

When you were searching for the alarm settings were the probes connected to the controller? I believe the probes must be connected to the controller before you get the option to set alarms on the App.

Hi, I have a 1070 that I really need a cover for. It got wet and I had a really bad auger jam that I just cleared. Mine is mounted lower so if you still have your extra one I’d love to take it off your hands And would happily pay shipping. Feel free to shoot me a note here or text me at 3038709603. Thanks!

I'm trying to send you a video of a pizza, but the forum won't let me post a video from my phone. So, I tried to convert it to a GIF, hopefully you can see it!

Quick question. I have to smoke a massive amount of chicken wings...how many wings can I get on my RT-700 with minimal space between them? Looking for an approximate number -- normal sized wings (not too big, not too small). Likely cut at the joint to make "flats" and Drummettes. Thanks.
Where can I find a replacement drip bucket for my 700? Thanks

I'd suggest just throwing it away and getting a pitboss bucket from walmart or home depot. They also sell the five packs of aluminum inserts that are really cheap. Then you don't have to clean the bucket.

Place a Mason jar or the like inside the bucket and never replace the bucket again. Tilt the bucket lip under the edge of the barrel chamber so that the jar opening aligns with the grease chute/spout.

Rec Teq recommends lining the bucket with a spaghetti sauce jar (And lid once full) Although not a good way to recycle glass...
Greetings everyone,
I purchased the RT-590 and am waiting to receive it. I didn't see it listed on the grills when I joined this group, hope that isn't a bad thing. This is my first pellet grill so I look forward to great advice from your experiences.

Very much enjoying mine although I did have a controller failure at the 10 month mark. I started a new thread on it if anyone is interested in following it.
Hi, how much for the 1070? I will be in Austin in a couple weeks, my daughter lives there
Does anybody know how the wireless app is supposed to work? I am struggling to get my RT-700 to connect. Customer Service blames it on a weak signal from my router. I even moved my router to within 20 ft of my grill. Looking for guidance.....

You didn't give any tec specs so I am making assumptions. The most likely cause is that you have a dual band (or more) router and the recteq is trying to connect to the 5ghz channel. The controller is 2.4ghz.

Try temporarily disabling the 5ghz channel in the router settings. If it connects, you can turn 5ghz back on.

5GhZ solution worked for me above

5GhZ by itself will never work. It's science. You need to disable your 5Ghz router and turn on the 2.4 GhZ setting to get it to work.
Hey Jim:
Just (fully) read your "Signature"
Your 340 has WiFi, Yes ?
Tried deleting any old RT App you my have on your device
Momma found She had their "Older" Apps, deleted everything and downloaded RT's newest one
It's been working great for us ever since .... and we have one of those "Mesh" WiFi / Router Set-ups, which we were told was the issue with the older Apps

Be safe, Den S

Hi, Den; thanks for the note. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Yes, I have wifi on the RT-340 (2.4 GHz only) and have deleted the old app (several times). I’ve loaded the latest version several times as well, but no real improvement.

Since we are in the midst of relocating and haven’t gotten the RT-340 down to the new house yet, I haven’t really pursued the issue. Good to hear from you. Stay well.

Hey Jim:
Good luck on your move
Catherine and I are in our "Forever Home" here in Utah
I can't see us ever moving again
Hard to believe we've accumulated so much stuff
We've been here since 2006 and there's boxes that are still taped-up from that move
Kinda says "you really didn't need to keep that junk" doesn't it o_O

Been there, done that, Den. Thanks for the good wishes. We are moving to our “forever house” now. Like you, we’ve been at the soon-to-be “old house” 20 years and have accumulated a bunch of stuff. We’ll eventually get it done.
Had to join. Lots of info just on pellet brands! Hope everyone has a smoking weekend!!
