    Knotty Wood Pellets

Has anyone tried using Knotty Wood pellets in a smoke tube? I bought two bags about a year ago but never even opened them after reading the threads with unfavorable comments about clinkers and firepot issues. Thought about putting them in a smoke tube and was curious if anyone has tried that...

RT-1250 Found a use for the second shelf

I have always wanted to place the meat off of the bottom grate just to get better smoke profile under the meat. The top rack does not have enough headroom for most cuts of meat (other than pork ribs), so i got two fire bricks and set the top rack on them which raises the rack up two inches. I...

food grade pressure sprayer bottle for smoker

Tired of the cheap spray bottle that leaks and is hard to get on the meat towards the back of the smoker. Looked online and saw a number of higher end sprayers and was just looking to see what others use and have been happy with.

    Recteq App

Turned the 1250 on about two hours and the app has nothing in the temperature history graph. Normally I only monitor the IT probe but went ahead and attached the two meat probes but still nothing is showing on the history graph.

    Longhorn Cookingpellets

I did a bulk buy of cookingpellets and got some Longhorn pellets. I just use the Longhorn blend to cook a brisket for the last 13 hours. I cannot believe the amount of ash all over the inside of the grill, grates, and brisket. It is everywhere, I have never seen anything like that with any...

    New Recteq web site

Is it just me or does anyone else think the new web site sucks? Trying to shop for parts and accessories is a nightmare. The old site let you shop by smoker. Now you have to go page by page looking for what you want, having to scroll through all smokers parts/accessories. What a waste of time!

    RT-1250 Need for searing plates??

Is there any need for the searing plates on the 1250? Since the 1250 can get up to 700 degrees why can I not just sear on the regular grill racks? That is hotter than I take my gas grill to when cooking steaks and burgers (or anything). Just curious what the searing plates add when cooking...

    RT-1250 First cook finished

Just finished my first cook, a 15 lb packer. I used a four probe smoke-x thermometer. I had one probe on the left side of the grate and one on the right side of the grate. Over the 18 hour cook I saw an average of 20-25 degrees difference between the two probes. The right side of the grill...

    RT-1250 1250 feed rate setting

What is the feed rate suppose to be set at? The 1250 installation/user guide I downloaded from the Recteq site says the default setting for AUG is 30. The setting on my 1250 was set to 10. Not sure what it should be set to but since it has the 3 rpm auger feed motor maybe 10 (or 1% on the...
