7.15 LB frozen turkey breast from Dillons of of freezer Thursday morning
Sat morning ~9:45 out of fridge and removed breasts - still partially frozen
Only got ~2.1 LB for both sides
HGH brine and in fridge
3:34 - started 590 gill set to 350 remotely
4:00 noticed grill was not getting to temp...
I had my deck replaced and have discovered that it is sloped the wrong way for where my 590 now sets. I've made chocks that will work, but I'd like to replace the 4" wheels with 6" wheels. Has anyone done this? Thanks.
My 590 handles smoking very well and I haven't needed more space. My 380 with grillgrates works well for hot and fast. What would I gain by replacing them with a 1070?
Started the app on my 590 this morning and found something new. You can now add notes to your cook. Looks to be a useful feature, especially if there is a way to export the notes. They seem to be making progress. The notifications don't seem to be working...as usual.
I grilled some chicken breasts and thighs on my38 with grillgrates at 425. The breast took ~2 minutes and the thighs ~ 30 minutes. Meat was good, but very little browning. Breast 165 and thighs 180. Do I need to go hotter? Thanks.
I'm looking for advise. I have a 3 LB Rump Roast that I want to smoke this weekend. The problem is that my better half will not eat medium rare (or even medium) meat. I smoke Tri Tips like brisket and it seems to work out well. Would this work for Rump Roast? Thanks.
I posted an earlier question about a Grilling Temperature Question. Finally found the issue and solution. All problematic cooks were with a grill grate. In the first photo you see the configuration for the cooks that went bad. The second photo is the configuration for the cooks that went...
I did some kalbi cut beef ribs last week on my 380 at 450 with grillgrates. I did not get much of a sear on the meat. It had been marinated, so that may have been the problem. I plan on doing bacon wrapped shrimp tomorrow. The recipe (HeyGrillHey) calls for 450 for ~ 8 minutes turning over...
I cooked a rack of ribs yesterday using the HeyGrillHey Orange BBQ Ribs recipe. Let me first say that I think that the recipe is a killer. Mine did not turn out as expected. I started with a full rack and trimmed off what I though should be trimmed. The recipe is basically a 3-2-1 at 225 with a...
I fired up my new bullseye last weekend for the first time. After 15 minutes still no smoke, so I went to the basement to get my propane torch to light. By the time I got back, it was going on its own. 400 F burn in seemed normal with fluctuation that seemed to settle down. Cook went well...
I'm planning on breaking down my turkey as outlined in the link below. I'm thinking 350 for the smoke and about 2 hours until 165 on the breast. Does this sound reasonable? I'm going to need to put it in a cooler and travel ~45 minutes after smoking, so I'm trying to get the timing right...
I cooked a Morton's of Omaha Tri Tip Saturday and it was very interesting. It is a pre seasoned, vacuum packed _portion_ of a try tip. It appears to be only the long side of a normal tri tip. 250 F for just under 6 hours on the 590. No real prep, no baste or flip, just cook. Probed tender...
Sam's Club Angus 13.7 lb Packer. Froze for a couple of weeks. Moved from freezer to small refrigerator Wednesday ~7:30 pm. Removed from small refrigerator ~7:30 Thursday night, trimmed and salted with Kosher salt, put in main refrigerator. Noticed that packer was still stiff inside...
I got my new RT 590 week before last. Got is assembled and tried to hook up the WI-FI app. No joy! Struggled for some time to no avail. Called and left a message at Recteq. They called me back at almost 3:00 their time and tried to help. The individual that called was not able to solve the...
Did my first RT590 cook today and it turned out...interesting. I did a 4 lb brisket point. It turned out very tasty, but really tough. There are two issues that may have affected it. 1. I had planned on doing it Saturday, so I put the rub on Saturday morning and put it back in the fridge...
