Stampede What do y'all do once all the powdercoat is gone from the lid?

Just about all of the powdercoat is gone from the inside of the lid, which isn't too bad since the creosote and whatever seems to be serving as rust protection. But it's started peeling around to the outside from the bottom edge, and that's rusting up, which I'm sure is just going to spread under the powdercoat in a chain reaction eventually. What do y'all do?

Take it off and have it re-powdercoated

I assume this is only on the inside, if so scrape/sand rust/loose stuff off, then apply some high temp cooking oil and run on hot. Do a few applications to coat and protect it from rust.

If you are doing it yourself, go to Lowes and get some Navel Jelly. Paint it on with a brush and when you rinse it off, there won't be any rust, only clean metal. Then you can paint it.
