I bought a 590 during the latest scratch and dent sale earlier this week. It was evident it had never been used and must have been in the sale due to dents caused by bolting the legs into the sheet metal.
During the initial smoke out to cure the pit I heard a loud clang. After an hour and as I was putting chicken thighs into the pit I noticed a large dent on the interior lip of the pit opening which was not there when I purchased it.
I called customer support and was treated as a second rate customer due to purchasing it at a scratch and dent sale. Customer service advised me I should straighten out the warping/dent with pliers or I return it for a refund. I chose to use the pliers and did my best, as I live several hours from HQ and was not willing to travel back there. Also, the 30 day warranty for scratch and dent grills only covers “parts” which are considered to be the auger, blower, etc.
After hearing such positive reviews on Recteq’s customer service I was disheartened all they could do for me was direct me to put a set of pliers to a brand new grill. If the metal warped at 400 degrees what will it do at 600? Last image is my DIY metal work.
