The vents on my Bullseye look the same, if not a little more discolored.

That discoloration indicates some deliciousness was made in that grill. Yes it’s normal. It can be cleaned or left alone, your choice.

I don't think I'm A fan of that new venting on the new 590. That would bug me all the time, but that's just me.

You can definitely see that more air comes out of the end closest to the drip pail, a.k.a the hotter side of the grill.
