I know it’s not RT related, but I use my gasser 3 or 4 times a week and it is in need of replacement. Wondering if anyone has bought a good one lately that they’d recommend.

I currently have a 2001 WEBER genesis 3 burner with a side burner that I never use, there’s only 2 of us so I have no use for a bigger unit, just want a good quality one that will last. I’ve been eyeballing a Napoleon Prestige but have yet to see one.

If you have one, does an infrared burner in the back work well for the rotisserie?

Thanks

I don't think you can go wrong with the Napoleon. That's the one we had picked out when we did our outdoor kitchen, but wound up going with a Kamado instead. Kind of miss that turn and burn ease of the gasser, but really glad we made the decision we did. I forgot how good a steak was coming off a charcoal grill.

My Bullseye ended up replacing my Weber propane 3 burner. I haven't looked back.

That's being said, if you want to stick with gas, the new Webers look nice and always heard good things about Napoleon.

I have a Napoleon Prestige 500 RSIB and love it. The rear infrared burner works great with the rotisserie and the infrared side sear station is great for steaks. You do have to be careful not to pull up on the side shelf or it will unlatch. That is the only issue I have had with mine, and it is not a big deal.

Last summer I picked up a Prestige 500 RSIB in black figuring it would be easy to keep clean. And it is…. I have used the side infrared burner a few times experimenting with direct cooks and reverse searing cooks. Thanksgiving turkey was done wonderfully using the rotisserie so I am very happy with that option. This is a solid grilling machine that I expect will always complement the other outdoor grills I use. This 500 is a good size for my wife and me and the occasional family gatherings.
Good luck on your new grill journey.

Is that the one with the gloss black lid and doors or the all black Phantom. Easy to clean would be a big plus for me.

I have the Napoleon 500 PRO and love it. I bought it at Holloways in Simsbury, they sold it for less than the list price, included a free cover and put it all together and delivered it to my house. They also took the old gasser away at no additional cost. They usually have one on the floor to look at. Yes, the infrared burner in the back is great when using the rotisserie. I put a foil pan under what I am cooking on the rotisserie to collect the grease and prevent flame ups.

The gloss black is what I chose. I have enough stainless to clean and don’t need any more practice with that. There was an option for gloss grey I almost opted for which may have looked nicer with our grey stucco house. HTH

We have the following in order of use:
Recteq bull 3-5 times weekly
Blackstone 1 time a week
Kamado joe classic 1 time a month (still my favorite but pellet grill gets used more because of busy schedule)
36" RCS gasser hasnt been lit in two years

Had I seen the gloss black or gray when I bought my Prestige 500 RSIB, I probably would have gone with one of those. Stainless is harder to keep looking great. I have found that keeping it covered when not in use does help in keeping the stainless looking presentable.however.

We have a natural gas six burner Weber Summit that is at least 15 years old, maybe several more. It has been used a lot over the years. We have not replaced a single part. It will stay put until we sell the house in a few years. We will then debate if we buy another one or that very interesting Napoleon a few others own.

Must be that dry Cali weather, as most anywhere else in the USA, one won't have a gasser that long without replacing any parts. :)

I haven’t owned a gas burner in decades, as I documented recently when I cooked on one at an AB&B last week. Having said that, if I were in the market for one, based on the recommendations of ATBBQ.com, Rick Bayless, Steven Raichlen, and the members on this forum who have one, Napoleon would be the first on my list. Not cheap by any stretch. But looks to be a fine addition to the grill space. Or get a PK charcoal grill, save thousands, and have a better tasting meal! Running and ducking now!

No need to be “Running and ducking now!” Grilling over charcoal definitely adds a unique flavor. That said, for me dealing with the stuff is “beyond my pay grade” and/or interest level.

If I’m going to burn something besides pellets, I’ll drag out my old, home-brew vertical stick burner. YMMV

I have a Lynx Professional (not the cheaper Sedona line) 36” gasser with built in cart. It has 3 trident burners with the optional 2 brass burners that I can switch out when needed. It can hit ~900F in about 10 minutes and has extra thick 304SS. The L-Pro is so well insulated that you can put your hand on the cover when it is 400F and not get burned. The lid also has assist springs so you can lift it with 1 finger and it will stay where you put if (e.g., partially open). It has grates so thick they make the RT-700’s look like oversized wire. It has a spit/rotisserie that can hold ~50lbs with a 3 speed motor. I also got the side searing station although the built in infrared does a great job, I just like the versatility. It also comes with a lifetime warranty and is made in America. If there is a bad side, it is that it will run you about $12-14k fully rigged with cover, which was cheaper than the Hestan I had that ran about 18K but kept giving me problems and I eventually sold it.
