Kirkland Signature Pellets

I snagged a bag yesterday... Still have a 1/2 full hopper to burn thru before I can try them out!

Can someone who has purchased Costco pellets test how they snap compared to a competitors pellet? I’ve used Traeger, Recteq, and Bear Mountain. All adequate.
They are shiny, and they snap cleanly. They are much easier to snap than the Smokehouse or Bear Mountain pellets though, so you may need to be a bit more gentle with the bag. Hopefully this helps!

@IPlayWithMeat you mean like this?

FYI, I bought a couple of 40# bags of the Kirkland Pellets the other day. First use was a Boston Butt/Pork Shoulder. Worked great, no issues and I preferred the smoke flavor from the Kirklands, as opposed to the Recteqs. No complaints about the Recteqs, but at $12.99 a bag for Kirklands (and local availability) I'm going with the Kirklands from here on out.

Ok... you guys convinced me - guess I'll have to give the Kirklands a try.

Here’s a couple of close up pics of the Kirkland pellets for those that might be interested;

Based on the recommendations here I bought a bag also. I hope to get quality smoke and flavor at a greatly cheaper price than $30 a bag on average. I’ll try to cook something in the next week and post results.

Some of those pellets look long...hope no feed issues...
Yeah, I don't have a good feel for how long is "too long". I've gotten through just about the first whole bag with no issues. The more I use them, the more I like the blend and the smell/taste of the smoke.

These pellets snap in half more easily than the other pellets I’ve tried, so this might mean they’d be more likely to break instead of causing a jam.

What are all of your thoughts on the fact that it says “100% Natural” instead of “100% Hardwood” on the package?

I'm too much of a noob to know any better...

Can confirm a suspected feed issue with the Kirkland pellets. Not sure exactly what happened but ended up with a fire in the auger and having to empt out the hopper on my 1070. 2/3 cooks have been fine with them.
Did you shut down when your temps were higher than 250 and get the burn back after shutdown?

How low are your pellets when the fire happened compared to the other cooks that went OK?
I'm curious if low pellet levels allow more air, allowing the fire to take off. Conversely, the full hopper would choke the air, hold back the smoke, thus not allowing the fire to take off. It's just a theory - I have a 1070 and I just pop the power button from 400*, no problems yet.

I too can confirm a feed issue with the Kirkland pellets. My wife picked up a bag of them last week and I filled the hopper of the RT-340 with them last night and started a pork butt. When I checked on the butt this morning, the fire was out due to the pellets bridging. I’ve never had that happen before in this grill with any of the many brands of pellets I have used. Luckily the temp in the grill had only dropped from 225° to 170°, so the food was still safe. I’m sticking with the Rural King pellets for now-best value and performance of anything available local to me.

Just saw them at my local Costco 1st time. Not all warehouses carry them in So.Kalifornia

I just saw a youtube post from Mad BBQ Scientist who basically said stay away from these.
I know that is easy to say when you are probably sponsored and get all of your pellets for free but I figured I would pass it on. He also said the best were knotty wood which many of us have had issues with, maybe dont listen to him?

He's right!
Please send all unopened bags to me.
Thank you.
