Hello everyone! I am loving my new RT-700 as is my family and friends. I was wondering what opinions you guys might have on the use of a turkey cannon? Is there plenty of clearance on top? Pros and Cons? Thanks in advance!

I have read that the liquid in beer can chicken doesn't evaporate because it is insulated by the cold turkey (or chicken). There is some distance between the turkey and the fluid in the turkey cannon and I was wondering if the liquid actually evaporated out using one of these? And is there clearance at the top of the turkey if it is beer canned? Thanks!

When I'm grilling / smoking beers evaporate without issue.

If you’re new to the recteq smoker. Check out the smoked Turkey recipe in the phone app. It’s awesome. I’ve done it 5-6 times in less than a year and it always impresses people. Also you don’t need to use coke. I have done it w virgils root beer bc of caffeine sensitivities in my family and it’s just as good... also Mexican coke makes no diff.

pics are from the last time I did it... which was thanksgiving.

Think it will be 2 tall...and do not understand how it would cook any better... I have one for chicken, and while it is "Chic" never use it anymore...Just not worth the effort...

It is too tall for turkeys. I haven't tried it on chicken yet. Thanks for all the tips and pics!

Everytime I see this thread it reminds me of old videos of how the windshields on planes and trains are/were tested with frozen chickens and turkeys shot at them.
