I agree, I can never part ways with my beloved keg! I’ve read a few threads concerning the vents and how to seal them while applying, that will be the first thing I do. Second mod will be building and installing my own Folding shelf on the front, there’s been some very helpful threads concerning...
Thanks for that info, I did not realize it was only 6 inches wider. That’s good to know.
By the way I’m from North Dakota, appreciate your avatar that’s a cool picture with the pheasant. Also I know what Wslayer stands for ... I miss Sakakawea and setting the hook in walleyes!
Thanks for the replies, for my needs it sounds like the RT 590 will work, and save me some cash. That was the model I had originally planned, but just wanted to get opinions, much appreciated.
Getting ready to order a pellet grill, definitely have it narrowed down to Rec Teq. I go way overboard doing my research. A little history, I’ve been cooking on a big steel keg, For those of you who don’t know it’s very similar to a big green egg. i’ve got 10 years out of my keg, been very happy...
I am definitely still interested, I think they look cool and I think the risk is minimal. I just posted the reply for a FYI, definitely not to throw a Debbie downer in the situation. It appears to me, there have been other modifications that are similar, probably not as free-flowing as yours...
I contacted customer service at Rec Teq today asking about modifying the vents and combining them to a single smokestack here was their response:
“ Personally, I would strongly advise against the modification that you described. In theory it would work fine but in practice, you would find...
Sounds like you and I are in the same situation. If I buy the competition cart it’s strictly going to be for looks. Not sure I will do that especially since they’re not on sale. Thanks to all for the replies. Sounds like the stock one is stable enough for patio use.
My pellet grill will be on my back patio on level concrete. I can’t imagine any reason I would be hauling it anywhere or moving it over grass or gravel. That said, I sure like the looks of it, and I’m considering buying it anyway. My question is is the stock equipment adequate or is it a little...
I did not want to sound negative, just trying to be sure I know what I’m getting into. Obviously I did a lot of research before deciding on one, that’s how I found this forum. Just commenting on what I’m reading and trying to find out if it’s legitimate issue or not. Your reply is reassuring - I...
I was an inch away from ordering the RT590. I have gotten a little cold feet reading these threads. Seems like there are multiple concerns: getting up to temp, soot building up, probe not working and connect-ability issues, used only their pellets? Am I just paranoid or are these legitimate...
Glad to see you got it resolved, I would have thought tech services at Rec Tec would have suggested this as one of the troubleshooting possibilities. I would not eat any food that had that black soot on it, no way that could be good for you. Happy cooking!
