Hello all! If anyone has the 590 smoke stacks by Wesley Gegg, they want to sell please let me know! Or if anyone knows any other smoke stacks for the 590 I can buy, please let me know. Thank you so much!

@Steveshin85 - I too wanted one, but alas, it's not possible. I designed a version myself as a result and I'm working with a fabricator locally to make one for my 590. My design is definitely different, based on 3" dimensions, but I did it! I should have my quote in about 3 weeks - he's really backed up.

3D render of my custom stack I designed

The stack is either going to be powder coated black with "floating" brushed stainless words, or a stainless stack with power coated floating words. TBD

I am very interested, please keep me in the loop. What is the difference between Wesley Geggs and the 3" design you speak of. Also, with all due respect, would it be possible to get one without the "Bullporky Barbecue" written on it?

I'm sure Wess may chime in, but a few of the differences in design based on observations... I'll break it down with mine design and then list what I think I know about his. I'm guessing on some of it admittedly, so take this with a gain of salt!

1. Mine will either be steel or stainless steel vs I believe an aluminum design
2. Mine will use 3" openings over the back vents for looks mainly, with a flange for mounting vs what looks like a smaller opening in the 1x3 size that fits inside the stock vent openings.
3. Mine will have surface mount flanges and require it to be bolted to the 590 (gotta drill a few minor holes) vs what looks like his slid in.
4. Single stack on mine versus 2 on the images I think we're made by him.

I really did like his design, and would have opted to purchase one, but as they aren't available, I've gone down this route. Folks seemed to like them though.

As for the customizations... You don't want my name on it?!?! LoL. I get it. I wanted something a little flashy. If you've seen my mods so far, you'd understand why 😁 The stack has the design where one side says "Flavor" and the other side says "Smoke" in script as well.

I can see what the costs are, can't promise anything as this is his side business. We're you thinking a plain stack? Powder coated black or brushed stainless? Didn't know others were interested.

Lol! Sorry about the branding man, I just wanted it nice and sleek. But honestly, I would like whatever is cheaper. Do you think stainless would be too heavy or no? Thanks for finding out and keep me in the loop bro. Thanks again!

No worries on the branding! I have always customized my smokers, so this was a given for me. It's not everyone's glass of bourbon 🤪

I'm expecting 20g or 16g steel in either case based on my design. Can't say for sure about the weight in all honesty. If it's sturdy at 20g, and that's what the fabricator recommends, then it will be lighter. I'm rolling the dice there. But the size of the flanges should allow me to distribute the weight evenly, and I plan on using high temp caulk as well to keep it sealed.

Earliest I'll hear is in 2 more weeks, I bet, on the cost and can let you know. Brushed stainless might be cheaper as there's no extra time or cost involved for powder coating, but material costs for up for stainless. Might be a wash. If you don't want any "embellishments" on it, the cost would logically be less.

If you have feedback on the overall design, lemme know. I tried to create and render 4 different designs, and this one came out the best IMHO.

Sounds good bro, thank you. Please keep me updated, and if the cost is not too high, I will definitely snag one. Thank you!

I would prefer the body/ tubing to be black
And if any wording/ logo that stand out

My fabricator got back to me today and said they will be around $165-$175 without the "words" on them. They will be 20g steel powder coated in black and all plasma cut. I want to see the end product before I commit to anything, but am sure it will be legit. Still interested at the price + shipping?

Still interested bro. Please keep me in the loop 🤙🏿🤙🏽🤙

If a person ordered one of these, what is the estimated delivery time? Also is there a concrete price in place?

@itsahog - the fabricator called and said he's starting on mine next week. After the first one is made, I should have a price for the unit. I may have to find a new fabricator if his side doesn't pick up though... I'm hopeful that they are simple to weld together and I can get him to move a bit quicker one he does the first one.

If enough ppl are interested, I may do a multi unit buy and then figure out shipping. Is going to be a few pounds and weird shape, so I have to figure out a container and packaging. Usps or FedEx, insured, and tracked is my thinking.

Sounds good big bro, please keep me in the loop!

I contacted customer service at Rec Teq today asking about modifying the vents and combining them to a single smokestack here was their response:

“ Personally, I would strongly advise against the modification that you described. In theory it would work fine but in practice, you would find yourself limiting airflow which would hold back your top end temperatures.”

I’m not saying you should or you shouldn’t, just telling you what the response was.

Logically this would make sense @itsahog. I think it comes down to the dimensions of the stack, but im not that proficient in the calculations to prove it one way or another.

The design of the stack I'm having made is using a 3" dimension specifically because the 590 vents are 1"x3". With 3 vents, I figured I'd need a 3"x3" stack to keep the airflow the same. Provided I keep the final dimensions the same, I didn't think I'd restrict the airflow compared to factory. Heck, I could potentially get away with smaller legs but it wouldn't look the same.

This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to sell them until I get some smoking time and see what the result is. I want to see about measuring the CFM on the vents and at the top of the stack to make sure the for rate is the same. The last thing I want to do is screw up others perfectly good smoker/grill!t It'slways a trial when modifying a piece off equipment... Hence the fact I want to test this first when I get it to see if everything works to the same standard as RecTeq.

admittedly, the other concern is the shipping costs. We're talking about an awkwardly shaped item that needs a heavy box and packing material to ensure safety. I have no idea what the cost would be as it's made of steel and if people would be willing to pay it. With the unique design, it will stand out but it could add to the cost considering I need a 30" box. It might end up being a one-off masterpiece 🤪

i get RecTeq saying to be cautious. It's sound practice, but if the airflow didn't change and it's not restricted, I hope the results are identical... I do want to do a bread yeast as well to see if it changes the dynamic of the cooker too.

thoughts? And thanks for the comment! It adds to the context of what I'm attempting to do
