How to remove the grate in the pellet hopper on my RT-590?

There are screws that need to be removed before you can take off the grate. Just don't drop the screws in the auger.

Put a rag under the safety grate to catch any screws that might drop.

my buddy put screws back in after removing his grate so that he can now rest the grate on the exposed screws.

IMO that grate is there on the advice/demand of RT's lawyers. I doubt a sloth would be slow enough to get his claws stuck in the auger.

I left the grate in my RT-340 for storage. The putty knife for scraping the drip pan lives there, and it’s a dry place to put my ThermoWorks thermometer unit if it is raining during a cook.

Assuming it is like the Bullseye, very small screws on the inside of the hopper. Just unscrew and take off. I left it off my Bullseye, just easier that way.
