Fairly new to smoking & have a WSM which love everything about it except for time to set up, trying to get temp set (once there rock solid) & unable to do 2 temp step cooking, lower for smoking & then finish at high temp, eg wings. Don’t really have the need for a large grill as most of time just 3 of us as oldest in college & don’t do a lot of entertaining.
Considering the following:
1. Coming from a Weber gasser (tired of grease fires, tried replacing parts with no success though it lasted for years before the fires) the Stampede closer to the size grill accustom to. Obviously this grill will replace the Weber gasser & most likely the WSM.
2. Really like the look of the Bull. Also, not sure how I like the looks of the vent extensions (rain concern). Wish the Stampede was just a smaller version of the Bull.
3. Since the Bull is larger, how much longer would take it take to reach a desired temperature of 450*?
4. Looking at purchasing a portable grill also (probably smaller than trailblazer) when cooking only a couple items & being able to take on vacation, day trips, etc. so the money difference between grills & accessories really adds up.
- on a side note for anybody that has the trailblazer, if opt for a trailblazer, concerned about stability since unit width looks small with 20 lb hopper on side & legs not angled like the Bull.
5. When grilling in less than optimal conditions, i.e. rain, should I need to be concerned with trying to cover electronics as will be easier to cover the side shelf of the Bull since grill will be on uncovered patio?
