After years of being the Blue Plate Special for mosquitoes while sitting on my side porch, I’m having it screened in. That’s also where my RT-700 lives so I’m wondering if I’m creating a new problem for myself?
Has anyone else had problems using their pellet grill in a fully screened-in...
Hello All. I out the firebox by hand, used a shop to scoop up all the accumulated ash/dust , etc., recharged the fire box with a small handful of pellets, then I smoked a whole chicken. No problems. Now, my et-700 refuses to ignite at all.
Any suggestions?

I’m considering ordering the Chef IQ three-probe, blue tooth meat thermometer, but before I spend $150.00 I think it’s a good idea to ask if anyone here has one, or has had any good or bad experiences with it.
Any thoughts /comments will be app,
I’m just fired up my Bull and forgot that I had left a pair of stainless steel tongs with rubber handles in it. Needless to say the rubber melted.
I was able to pull, most, but not all of it off the grate.
Now I’m wondering if I’ve poisoned the interior of the Bull with combusted petroleum...
I am getting ready to smoke a 3.5 pound boneless leg of lamb. It was frozen as hard as a rock when I got it out of the freezer yesterday, and it sat in the ref over night. But, Temp probe says it’s still 30 degrees. If I start it at 225, I’m expecting 3-4 hours to finish it. But, I’m concerned...
I’m getting ready to screen in the side porch on my house. It’s already roofed in, and has electricity available but no plumbing.
It measures approximately 12’ x 20’. I’m going to install an overhead fan to push out smoke. I have my Bull and a Weber kettle out there now (plus a ton of junk...
I slow smoked this 3.5 lb boneless leg of lamb three days ago. It was incredible the first time around.
Tonight is leftover night, and it better still after three days of resting in the fridge.
I’m attending a long overdue family reunion in September. I haven’t seen some of these folks in 30+ years.
I have volunteered to do all of the grilling/smoking because I’m also the only family member who really enjoys that.
The location for the event only offers a cheap gas grill, which in...
I had problems a couple of months ago with one my two rt700 probes providing ridiculously erratic numbers. Called customer service and they promptly sent me a replacement. Now the older one is doing the same thing. I’m wondering about the useful life span of these probes.
I have logged about...
I don’t have the BFG. I have the RT-700, and while it’s true that I’ve been grilling and smoking for about 25 years, (Weber kettle), I’ve only had my 700 for 15 months, and seldom cook for more than my 3 person household. So, I may be woefully ignorant about many of the finer points especially...
I noticed with the most recent software update for my Rec-Teq app on my phone, that I now have the option of naming both meat probes. I can’t figure out why I would want to do that. I have an odd sense of humor so , I just named one of them “Bob” and the other “Not Bob”.
Am I missing...
I am a huge fan of bison burgers and steaks. We have a local bison ranch that consistently produces grass fed, antibiotic free, delicious meat. Now, I’d like to try smoking a bison roast.
As the title says, I’d greatly appreciate any tips, warnings, suggestions, recipes, etc., on how to...
I know in advance that an eye of round roast is not an ideal choice for a low and slow cook with my RT-700 because they are lean as a general rule, but I have one in the freezer that’s just sitting there …. 😎. So, I’m going to thaw it and see how it goes tomorrow.
With that being said, I...
I am wondering if I should clean the internal heat sensor on my RT-700 periodically, because I use it frequently and it seems that “gunk” is accumulating on it. Will the adversely effect accuracy?
Good Evening All:
I tried the burgundy braised lamb shank’s recipe available in the Rec-Tec recipes last summer. It turned out excellent, but I didn’t have a cast iron Dutch oven, so I used a disposable aluminum pan covered with foil instead. I prefer to use long term cooking tools as a general...
I have seen several posts that discuss using a welding blanket with the rt-700 during cold weather. Based on how mine has performed during the first winter I’ve owned it, I can only suspect that I am very fortunate in how protected from the elements my setup is.
My Bull is aligned against a...
I am considering screening in my side porch to cut down on mosquitoes etc. my RT-700 is on my side porch, has a roof over it, on a level cement slab, and works great.
In order to screen in the side porch, I’ll need to extend the rt-700 flue and introduce a right angle.
Will that negatively...
I have had my Bull for about four months. I’ve probably used it about 75 times for both long cooks and shorter ones. I’ve gone through 300+ pounds of pellets.
I recently saw a post here describing an accumulation of pellet dust causing an operational problem. The poster said he fixed the...
I am continuing to experiment with smoking various cuts of meat in my RT-700, and I’ve decided to try lamb shanks tomorrow. The plan is, at present, to go with a garlic and herb rub, and smoke them at 225 until the hit about 185-190.
Any tips on what to avoid or, better still, how to maximize...
