Bull Using lamp wiring for switched outlet?

I’m no electrician, but after seeing the RT-1250 with a power outlet on the side it got me thinking…are there any electricians or electrical savvy people out there that know if this would work? A switched outlet would be much more useful than the interior lamp.

I see no reason why it won't work. Current (amperage) handling capabilities is another story.

Would it work, sure as long as that switch is fed 110V. It's probably not a good idea though as the switch is pretty light duty as are the wires. Wouldn't expect much current before failure.

I wouldn't use lamp wiring personally. I'd go with something higher gauge and intended for exterior use.

Switched outlets were pretty common back in the day.
Wire gauge, breaker need to be sized for the load.
