Although convenient, the original briquettes were also carcinogenic because of the binder they used. Nothing like a fresh batch of poison for the family during an outing. There are some rumors that to this day, briquettes still contain nasty stuff. That‘s why the experts tell you to use lump charcoal or make your own. Just sayin’.
