Those both look good. How long did you cook the corn? I once over-smoked corn and it turned out like gnawing on a piece of burnt wood. Yours look really good.
I put them on at the same time as the legs. Cooked about 2 hrs. Didn't soak. Pulled the husks back, rubbed with olive oil & spices, pulled husks back over. After an hour or so, pulled husks back like the picture. A little dry...may soak next time and not leave on so long.
looks great! beautiful cook. I have also had mixed results with corn. Love the concept but never quite found the right temp/time. I used my Instant pot last summer and the rest if history. Kids have made it clear they prefer perfectly steamed corn to smoky over or under cooked corn. Ha!
