RT590 shelf

I'd like to make a 12" x 28" wood shelf for my new rectec 590 with compitition cart . I see that the aluminum shelf that rectec sells is 10". Is 12" to wide for the compitition cart. Looking at pics of the 10" shelf in the down position, doesn't seem like there is any room for anything wider than 10".

Don't have competition cart, but 12" should be fine. That's what mine is.
