So I thought I would post 2-3 small tips that I thought others might find useful. Nothing life changing here, but they help me when I’m cooking. I don’t recall seeing them here before, but the bucket lid may have been discussed.

First tip is that after I bought a Home Depot Bucket shop vac to help empty the hopper to change blends, I soon lost track of just what I had loaded in the hopper. I now have written down the pellet blends I have on index cards, and I keep the current blend identity clipped on the hopper divider with a binder clip.

I also bought some food grade 5 gal. buckets from Lowe’s along with the Gamma brand screw on lids. This makes storing unopened bags of pellets a breeze, and they stay dry with the screw on lid.

Finally, before I bought the buckets I found filling my smoke tube to be a PITA. I’d spill pellets all over the place and knock over the smoke tube at least 2-3 times. Now I stand the tube up in the middle of the bucket and no mess, no problem. Hope someone finds some utility from this.

Thanks. Since this is my first pellet smoker I was going to ask how most people stored their pellets.

Thanks for posting.......knowledgeable ideas from others is exactly why I joined this forum. Everyone has good ideas to share.
