Recently, every time I try to use my 590, there is a fire in the fire pot. I've cleaned everything and tried to vacuum as many pellets out of the auger as I can. Does anyone know why this is happening? Sparks fly and ash is everywhere, plus of course, the fire.

I talked with someone at RecTeq who suggested I try different pellets. Mine were from an older bag, so I cleaned them out of the hopper, opened a new bag and am using those now. It seems to have solved the problem. Hopefully this might help others who experience this problem.
Just as an FYI, my grill was clean with no grease buildup.

Good RT was able to figured what the cause was. So the problem really wasn't as much there's "fire in the firepot" but there was an excessive amount of ashes and sparks flying out. When I'm using mine it has a fire in the firepot, the higher the temp the larger the fire.
Curious, what type of pellets were you using that caused the problem, and what type of environment were they stored in?

Yes, lots of ash and sparks, and a higher or seemingly hotter burning fire than I've seen from the pot. The temperature jumped from 73 to 275 almost immediately, which it had never done before.
I always use Traeger pellets, which are stored in a pantry in my home. I had an older bag I was using, and so switched to a new, unopened bag. I generally remove excess pellets from the hopper, because that is what Traeger instructed I do, when I owned my Traegers.
I have been using pellet grills for 6 or 7 years now and understand that there is always fire in the fire pot, but this seemed excessive.

I had treager pellets when I first got my 340 and after talking to RT and sent them pics found the treagers had too many long pellets causing the wild temp swings due to bridging. Pit Boss has performed wonderfully for me.
