Bullseye Auger emptying out when turned off

Got my bullseye a week ago and did initial burn and then cooked some ribeye steaks.
Turned grill off but didn't unplug power and when I went to use it again the hopper was empty and grill was full of pellets..
Did I screw up or has this happened to anyone else?
