I just got a bullseye about a month ago. When I removed the heat deflector after a few cooks and noticed all the ash down there.
My first thought is that ash getting on my food? I dont see any but it has to with the way that thing is blowing like a jet engine.
Not crazy about that thought...
No its not a noticeable upgrade. its a completely different animal!
I would never be without my KJ. Nothing like cooking on charcoal and having complete control of it
not sure havent done any real smoking on it. Doing a brisket flat tomorrow, that will tell the tale of the pellet pooper smoke ability...
I had an Akorn for several years until it finally rusted out. Great cooker. I graduated to a KJ big joe III
I have always cooked pork buts at 275-300. To me doing it any lower is just a waste of time, they come out perfect every time. This is from my stick burner.
I have a feeling that it blows so much air that it doesnt have a chance to stick to the food. When I open the lid sounds like a jet engine or something. Never cooked on a pellet grill before so I dont know if thats how they all are or not.
Its my first pellet pooper, I have a KJ, a stick burner...
Customer support says I need to use pellets no longer than half inch. I cannot find such a thing so i asked them what they suggested. This was the response. I find it interesting that they know all of the components are working properly. They did not do a diagnosis of any kind. I ended up using...

I switched to Pit Boss pellets, and set my feed rate to 65 (it shipped set to 30)
Was really steady for a few test burns (empty) yesterday. Like a different pit.
Only time will tell if it is fixed for good
Thanks. I contacted support. They are telling me 9 times out of 10 the pellets are too long. They should be 1/2 in long. I dont know, these pellets (JAX by Jealous Devil) are a lot smaller than the Trager and Weber pellets I saw at the store.
What pellets are you guys using? I see Pit Boss at...
Thanks. One thing I did notice on the plus side is I dont seem to have that 100f difference between the temp reported on the controller and my grate probe I see people talk about. They are pretty close.
So far anyway lol
Well I fired it up yesterday. It went ok. Overshot at first to over 600 for about a half hour, at that point I set it to 300 it fell back down to about 150f, I thought it was going to go out so I bumped it up to about 350, then it shot back up again, I didnt touch it again it kept bouncing up...
