Bullseye Trouble holding low temps

Original style bullseye. What do you do to hold 200 - 250 temp range. Minimum with lid closed is like 275 - 300+ for me. I really need to prop open to get the 225 -250 zone. Using ink bird temp read not dome guage which shows even higher. Thanks.
