We literally just plugged our 590 in for the first time and er3 rtd comes up. What is happening? We've tried powering off and back on but it won't turn off...

The only thing I can think of is to make sure all wiring connections are secure.

@Lbecker er3 usedto be loss of power or bad outlet, bad ext. Cord... Holding in the power button was to reset it...
Maybe try a different outlet see if it matters? Since it says "RTD" though, you might want to make sure the probe wires are plugged in properly also.
If nothing else they will call you back tommorow and you you out or you can call again to get ahold of them.

Yeah I tried three different outlets with no luck. All I get is the same error message.

Did you get a resolution to your issue? I’m setting up my 700 for the first time and have the same error. Customer service closes till Monday...

590 Manual suggests:
ER-3
RTD unplugged/grill over heated
Check connection and let grill cool. Turn grill off, then back on again to reset controller and clear code.

Perhaps the RTD became disconnected during shipment? ER-3 error is the same for 700 and 590.
