Have you ever started it with the rack and drip pan out so you can see the firepot? Mine would get a lot of pellets in the pot before ignition so I put the igniter about an eighth inch farter into the pot. Less than 9 minutes from off to 425 and it holds temp well
I have my igniter sticking out into the firepot about an 1/8 inch and mine doesn't overshoot the set temp at startup by more than 5 degrees. I had the cooking grate and heat shield off it during one startup and saw pellets getting blown to the far side of the firepot and sometimes got to about...
I understand the blower is for induction but I would expect it to shut off at set point temp similar to what my father's Pit Boss Laredo does but that thing takes 30 minutes to get up to temp. I might try a recteq induction blower on it as they seem to have more CFM output
