hello fellow enthusiasts! I'm a recent New owner of the 700 bull and I have to say the unit is amazing amd well built. it went together great Andy first cook with a 11 pork shoulder was amazing so ya cool right ? I think so . my only complaint is the app . for two weeks no I have tried to get it to work with my android it its no go it won't work . I however got the app work with my son inlaw iphone but we still can't get it connect to wifi amd this is why I bought for this convenience. so even when I shut down the 5ghz ony router it still won't connect to the 2.4 ghz. I have repeatedly been trying to contac customer no service im in two week amd still won't reply to my emails. so at this point I'm gravely disappointed on the whole ordeal now seriously contemplating selling the grill I live the grill but I don't want basically babysit the unit. any help is appreciated 🙏 before I put this up for sale . thanks

They have 30 day money back guarantee. Sell it back to them.
 
Definitely call them. They are great with phone support, not as good at email support.
here is the thing I have called them amd they do not have a answer or a viable solution and don't know why the app will not download or work proper with my android s20 plus. let alone even trying to connect to wifi. and as far as email they WILL NOT RESPOND at all. .
 
Make sure "location" is turned on on your phone. Took a call to RT to find this out.

that is good . what's crazy I can download the app and get it work on my son inlaws iPhone so with that it something with the phone as far as that. wifi is now a different story. I mean outside this nonsense the grill works great

ya we did that with son inlaws phone still won't connect, all scenarios are no go ,this is why rectec doesn't have a answer or viable solution everyone is scratching their head this point. so outside of someone coming to my house and getting it working it will a regular grill

When you say “it won’t connect to Wi-Fi”…what exactly do u mean? More specifics may help trouble shooting over the forum. I struggled getting it to connect for about five minutes and then realized I was making a really stupid mistake. Not saying that’s what you’re doing, but may be a simple fix. If you can elaborate, might be able to help. Maybe a screen shot of the error?

so on my son inlaws iPhone we were able to able to actually download the app and setup the rt700 on it however when setup on wifi with correct password and shutting down the 5.ghz and just using the 2.4 ghz it continues to say connection failed . it doesn't matter if I'm close to the router or further away or somewhere in the middle ot doest not work. support does not know what to do or have a viable solution .. but that is all out door anyway because I have android Samsung s20 plus with latest update. and we can't even get the app to download to the phone. once again support is no help they don't why it won't work on phone . we have made over 50 attempts to try they even would reset my account on their end and still can't get it work . so again no help and let alone trying to connect to wifi since the app doesn't work on my phone. and to add insult to injury upon the second attempt to use the grill the auger went out now I have totally useless 1200 grill I can't use. very disappointed in rectect

This part tells me that the issue (in this case) isn't RecTeq's issue. I'm the last person to excuse the obvious app-related short comings that RecTeq refuses to address but I also want clarity when people are having other issues to avoid clouding the waters for issues that RecTeq is responsible for. If you can't even download/install the app from the Play store this suggests that there is something not propagated properly with the network you're using as RecTeq has nothing to do with those particular aspects and Google tends to be pretty good at server-side functionality on their end. I suspect you may have some sort of firewall issues with your network that is blocking some connections or just a faulty radio that is causing intermittent connectivity issues globally.
 
@Ostrichsak Android has rolled out several betas over the past few days.
Not sure what this has to do with my post. Number of Alpha, Beta or release candidate versions of the app wouldn't have any bearing on this person not being able to install whatever official version is currently on the Play store for user download. I still suspect their issue is with their network based on the details given.
