i am a bit frustated with my RT 340.. the food on the edge is burning dehydrating. rapidly and the food in center is under heated.. is it just me or other folks also sense this

what is the purpose of the vent hole on the left front side which has a sliding cover.. should it be open or closed?

Are you talking the front and back edge over cooking or left and right? If front and back you have to keep the food away from the gap between the drip pan and the grill body. That’s where all the heat rolls up from the fire pot.

I close the probe hole when I think of it but it’s open by mistake as much as closed, I see no difference, at least at low temps. Mine cooks fairly even other then what Waterboy mentions and the right side being a little hotter then the left.

What's a flare zone 🤔
