I appreciate the input although traeger wasn't a part of the discussion. I have an rt700 and love it. To get, or not to get, a verticle was the issue at hand.
Not sure if your question was in regard to the original post but; what I was asking was if it was worth it to add a vertical in addition to a vertical. I have an rt700 and bought a vertical and wanted thoughts on having both.
To summarize what I'm hearing, the vertical is better for low and...
I brought it home and my wife rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, "another smoker?". 😁 I've had a few and others and just got the rt700 about 2 months ago. She has a point though...
Definitely, adding to the arsenal was my intention. My worry was just that the rt700 is so good at what it does, I was buying another unit that doesn't perform as well at low and slow.
I wanted to keep it all along, just wanted reassurance from others that I want wasting my money.
I have an rt700 and love it but... My brother in law just got a Cuisinart pellet grill with smoker chamber. I'm well aware my Bull is significantly better as a grill but I got a bit jealous with his area for smoking. I don't necessarily want the smoke chamber for the rt700, I was thinking about...
The second rack recteq sells? Any pics of the modded heat deflector?
I also bought my 700 less than 3 months ago and would have gotten the 1250 if given the option. The best I can do is modify what I have. Only thing I REALLY want is the pull out second shelf.
Cooked a London Broil on xtreme smoke (low) until it came up to 135. Pulled the "steak" out, set it to full with a grill grate inside. Put the steak back in for about 90 seconds each side on the grill grate. The center is great, even medium with a good smoke ring (Pic) . Dry rubbed with longhorn...
Drips will either run off the drip shield into the barrel or run down into the gasket seal which could divert them as well. I personally think drips will eventually overrun the seal and go down the front because it has to go somewhere. I decided not to seal mine yet and did the shield first...
I have the high temp red RTV ready to apply as soon as I'm happy with it and I've made it look pretty. I'll post pics of it and the upcoming front drip catch once I make it
Thanks! I'm trying to do what's necessary before it gets messy.
I also have the stuff to also make a drip edge for the front of the barrel for any grease that happens to get by the inside drip shield. I'm just copying the Grilla accessories because they make so much sense
I just used a metal chop saw and a bench grinder. Super simple yet effective. I think the grinder is a better idea though. Let me know if you make them, I'd like to see what anyone else does.
And Mountains are NW Tucson AZ, beautiful huh?
I have a brand new, never cooked on Bull and can't stand the thought of grease and goo getting all over the front of my new smoker. After looking at the pictures and reviewing the posts on this thread I decided to wing it and try to make my own before it got dirty. After a lot of trial and error...
I just called grilla for measurements of the accessories.
Drip shield Inside the lid is 23 5/8"
Drip catch on the Front edge lip is 26"
I have a 700 bull, didn't get to measure it yet.
Is this just a piece of aluminum? I feel like I have seen it somewhere and it already had that bend in it. Can you direct me where to find it? Just assembled my 700 today and want to keep it nice
