Whole Beef Tenderloin - how far in advance can I prep the meat (trimming, etc)?

Talking about 5-6#, nothing crazy. Is this something I can prep in the morning and smoke in the evening, or does the prep need to be done closer in time to the actual smoking? Thanks.

    RTD probe experiment...

Absolutely does. You wonder if that would be the condition inside the barrel? I'm pretty new to rec teq, so where would you think the four best places would be? My thoughts were the four corners, but i guess I could just sort of sample around the space and see.

    RTD probe experiment...

Just ordered 4 pt1000 rtds off aliexpress, will let y'all know what comes of the test. The idea is to wire up 2 pairs each in parallel, and then wires those parallel pairs in series to each other. At 0C, in theory, 2 1KΩ RTDs in parallel would return 500Ω resistance. Put two pair of those...

    RTD probe experiment...

Here's one I wonder about: 4 pt1000 RTDs connected in series-parallel (i.e. two pairs of parallel RTDs, with those pairs connected in series). Wouldn't that return an average of the four (i.e. each paralleled pair would return half its impedance, and then those two halves would be added...

    5-pin EZ connect extension?

Works on the RTDs as well as far as my tests can show. My grill is in an enclosure that's required me to take off the side shelf and relocate the controller. Project I'm on now is a single plug quick connect and stowable housing for the controller. This all started after I sheered off the RTD...

    RTD probe experiment...

Pretty sure they're labeled as Pt1000 probes. Not sure what other metal is used for a 1000 ohm RTD.

    5-pin EZ connect extension?

...and for more context on the extension, probably the cleanest way to do this is just to extend the wires on the controller side with new longer lengths. You can actually pull the little pins out of the plug (google molex plug pin removal, you don't need a special tool). You can get molex...

    5-pin EZ connect extension?

I did this recently. It's 18 AWG stranded wire, essentially the same as lamp wire. You can easily butt splice extensions into it. Otherwise get on Amazon and order molex plugs and the appropriate wire and you can create your own extensions that way.

    Longer thermistor okay?

RT-700 in a custom outdoor countertop. The controller ideally would end up in a housing on top of the counter. Last hurdle is a longer thermistor cable. Do y’all know of any reason I can’t lengthen it and/or how long I can go before there are issues? If I remember my science classes enough it...
