Try designing your smoker yourself... Amazon sells the furnace with digital and manual controls. Put up a cedar enclosure and you have a smoker you made. I find this very attractive... What do you think...
You would have the benefit of the warranty if you bought a new one. Buying used might not be so cost-effective. If I was doing this all over again, I would buy a Yoder... not Recteq, BTW.
I use a pan of water... smash onions and garlic into the water for flavor... not moisture. :) I am told that the pellet smokers don't need the water pan... but I do.
