Mine were taped to the outside of the foam surrounding the handles (not inside with the handles). If I hadn't been like a 5 year old tearing into Christmas presents, I would have seen them the first time. Glad I found them, though they may not make much of a difference judging by others comments...
Not too strong (sounds like that is typical with pellet burners). A very very slight bitter taste, but not unenjoyable at all. I may have tried to put too much smoke flavor on. I'm looking forward to trying a bunch of different brands and blends. I think Lumberjack will be next, after I get...
After I shut mine down, I noticed that there were still un-burned pellets in the pot when I was cleaning the grill. Does the auger come back on after the fire is put out, to bring fresh pellets in for the next cook?
I got the RT-700 all put together with the Fire Black gasket installed. I went all JJ Abrams with the lens flare in the pics. I also put a bit of the gasket material on the hinge tabs that contact the raised lid to maybe help protect the finish. First cook was the obligatory chicken legs and...
I had to dive head first into our trash can but I found 'em! Installed 'em. My handles do get hot right around the bend with them on, but not much past that out to the tips.
I just got an RT700 yesterday and put the 1/8" x 1/2" Fireblack gasket all the way around my lid, right along the edge, and nothing comes out of the lid when smoking at 180. My lid fit pretty well before the gasket install, but I didn't cook with it that way so I don't have a baseline with which...
The guys at Saia's shipping terminal said he's seen a lot of them go through there too. Just got home and will start putting it together in about two hours when it cools off a bit.
Picked it up on my lunch break. Sitting in the back of my truck right now. Stopping on the way home to get a couple of bags of pellets for the weekend. Tri tips are on the menu. Are Pit Boss pellets any good? Lowes is right around the corner from me, and has them pretty cheap. A place 15 minutes...
Well that was quick. Saia just called back and ok'd the pick up tomorrow. All is now right in the world. I think my wife was way more disappointed than I was with the possible delay. She's a good woman and clearly has her priorities right.
My wife just called them to see if I can just go down and pick it up. They said that they have to call Rec Tec for permission. Maybe there is still hope for this weekend's redemption!
