Yea this update is a bummer. I frequently clean and prep my grill for an early AM start then remote start. I don’t want to walk outside naked in the snow and start my grill at 0300😹 I can see it from the window.

For actual smoking filets my favorite is bluefish… killer pate options. Also good at higher temp covered with spicy mustard and Mayo.
Using higher temps my favorites are sword, salmon (numerous good ways) and miso black cod.

How hot and how long was it running? I have noticed that if I run mine very hot for awhile I get small amounts of smoke coming from the hopper. After opening the lid I typically find the lid is covered with accumulated water droplets that was steamed out of the pellets.

Lighting is in the plans and I like the idea of dry storage for foil and other things. I haven’t found a weather right storage solution I love that fits well. I considered running water and making a sink off the side.
