Brother in-law has both a recteq and smoking bro. Had the SB first then when he wanted a second grill he got a recteq. Both are good but from what I have seen the only thing better on the SB is made in USA. I did and would again pick recteq.
With brisket I usually just wrap, if I think it is needed I may add salt and pepper or whatever seasoning I am layering but usually only if I think too much got rubbed of when placing on the grill. I have also added fresh herbs. On other thing’s mostly pork I have added thin sliced onion, fruit...
700 hands down do it again. A friend was comparing his recteq to a pit boss. No comparison! The recteq is a better and heavier build. Several of my family and friends got them at close to the same time. All of us are very happy. My brother in law has a Smokin Brothers and he got a recteq and he...
I know what you mean about the salty gravy. We didn’t add any seasoning to the bird but did season the gravy as we usually had started out and it was already too salty. We used broth to make more gravy to dilute it with, man we had a lot of gravy that was just ok. Didn’t make that mistake again...
Didn’t baste it other than the butter mixture melting during the cook. It was not dry at all even the leftover weasel moist. We have been using the Alton Brown brine for a few years with occasional and slight changes to the mix. It has always turned out very good. I don’t think we will be...
Looks good. You will enjoy youRT700. We got ours this past August and it is absolutely the best pellet grill out there I believe. Putting roasted veggies and 6 brined pork chops on tonight. It’s been a week or to so it’s time to grill again!
We butcher 2 hogs every year as well as other smaller butcher projects. And family friends butcher 5 hogs a year. We use a #32 Porkert grinder hooked to an electric motor. Not the safest rig but has a lot of power. Had been butchering more than that in years passed. It’s a good grinder and they...
Well I cooked a spatchcock 20 pound turkey yesterday on the bull. Went great! Alton Brown’s brine method ( after spathcocked), also added some Meat Church Gospel to the brine. Then covered with compound butter just before going on the RT700. Also put all the goodies Mr Brown said to stuff it...
Welcome to the recteq family. Lots of good information here. We got our 700 this summer and have put a lot of meat on it as well as veggies, casseroles, bread, and cookies. May take a bit to learn your grill but it took me longer to learn a charcoal and a wood burner, never used a gas burner. We...
We have a cast iron griddle with a grease channel. It is a good griddle but like others have mentioned a pain to clean and really doesn’t do that much. If it isn’t level the grease runs to the side and is at the top of the lip and runs out. So you are back to soaking it up or pouring it out. The...
We have the large square griddle from RT and like it a lot very heavy duty. We seasoned it according to the directions( also re-seasoned some of our cast iron skillets) the next morning it was 6 pounds of bacon on the griddle. I did use 3 or 4 paper towels to soak some of the grease up before I...
I am new to the forum as well as new to pellet grill/smokers. After a long research and looking at several other brands recteq was the one for us. We got the RT 700 and are very pleased! We have had it just over a month so we are in a bit of a learning curve going from an off set smoker/ grill...
