Well, I got voted out of the cook. Wife is going to oven cook early tomorrow morning at 5am, wrap & take it with us for Christmas dinner. Probably easier.
This is going to be an odd one. I have 2- 5 lb rib eye roasts- fat cap on- my wife won in a contest at local grocery store. Dinner is Sunday but I'll be smoking Saturday. The plan is to dry brine with kosher salt in refer for 24 hours. Leave the fat cap on but score it with a knife. Remove from...
I had to run power for my smoker & ran it based on my Traeger. Took it back & bought the 590 and cord too short now. Recteq put the cord on the wrong end! How dare they! Recteq should take mine back because cord is on opposite end! So I went to the hardware store & bought a 4 ft extension cord...
Margaritas or any other ice containing drink I use the Oster blender. The heavy duty model with the single toggle switch. It's probably 15 yrs old & still going strong. No plastic anywhere. Go to a bar & see what they use. Chances are it will be the Oster.
I have the 590, the grill grates, front shelf & a 40 lb bag of pellets I haven't opened yet. About 2 months old now.
Front shelf is a must- either the Recteq or a DYI.
Grill grates......Too much of a PITA, I reverse sear at the end on my gasser. That way I can pull the meat from the Recteq & go...
Patina is earned, show it proudly. Only thing I clean good are my grates. I just drop them in a plastic tub of water for several hours. Clean, no chemicals. Oh, and foil on the drip tray.
CS told me most people clean the ash from their smokers too much. He told me his personal smoker hasn't been cleaned in over 6 months. What I've found is the Recteq makes far less ash than my Traeger did. That thing needed vacuuming every cook. Same pellets produce far less ash in the Recteq...
Tracking info is very inaccurate. You will see it sitting waiting for pickup for days when they said it shipped. Once the shipper gets it, it's a crapshoot. I've had 3 delivered (2 damaged) and the 2nd one sat in Las Vegas for a week. West coast was 8 days for the 1st (told me 4-5), 12 days for...
Their BBQ beans are epic. I haven't had them in awhile so I can't remember if they are smoky or not. They have brisket in them with the fat on edges. Not tiny flakes, that piece was right on top & is bigger than the end of spoon. I have some bacon but I doubt I need it. I also have some pork...
Wife picked up some bbq beans from Sams Club, the refrigerated ones in the plastic tub. Since I will be doing some baby backs, I was thinking of adding some smoke to the beans by putting them in my 590. Anyone do this? Worth it? Good or bad idea? How long in the 590?
Man, some of you need a different hobby. Go back & re-read what I originally posted. I asked simple questions I've seen posted here. Just because YOU get it, doesn't mean others get it. I thought I was being helpful to the group asking some questions. I guess not. And when I post that others...
