    RT-1070 Is the 1070 rainproof?

Follow up to a thread from long ago. I have used the 1070 successfully and love it. Cover, with waterproofing, keeps the rain out when not grilling. If it is raining and I want to grill, I have had some success with Al foil loosely covering the lid and vents. I attached the Al foil with high...

    Sear grates opinions

I don't have the option of the weber, but I have enjoyed my sear kit. Both sides of the sear kit work great. You can make nice sear marks, as in the picture, or use the flat side to sear the whole steak, or do both by flipping the kit while searing. Some people have pointed out that the grill...

    recteq grills uncovered

I am interested in the LavaLock. I have a 1070, which I love but it is definitely not rain proof. Rain gets in while cooking, and during a heavy rain while not cooking the electronics were completely fried. I have a cover now for when not cooking but while cooking I have resorted to aluminum...

RT-1070 HELP!!! Insulation Grill Jacket for RT-1070

Gotcha. Ok. We had someone build the cabinets around the space. He said he can separate the cabinets and add cement board. Would a total of 31" with 3/8" cement board work?

RT-1070 HELP!!! Insulation Grill Jacket for RT-1070

Fortanbary, any thoughts on the ceramic fiber paper? I have the 1070 with cabinet underneath and it is set in between two wooden cabinets so it looks kind of like a built in but can roll in and out. I wasn't planning to roll it in and out much but station is exposed, thus needs the cover. The...

    RT-1070 Is the 1070 rainproof?

Thanks ya'll. This is helpful. I will use the cover and see how it goes. I don't have a space to keep it under a roof, so I am hoping that with the cover I will be ok. Also going to take ya'lls advice and use tent sealant or waterproofing for the cover.

    RT-1070 Is the 1070 rainproof?

Do any of you have your 1070 out in the open, not under a roof or a cover? I am a new owner and have cooked some wonderful meats on the 1070 but last weekend it rained and my 1070 got rain in the barrel and then short circuited at the blower motor and the ignitor. Recteq is sending new parts...

Bullseye Found this in the hopper today.

I am wrestling with the same problem. Rain gets in the back vents. Fire box was soaked, water all in electrical box, and down in the cabinet below. Argh. All this led to a short in the blower motor for fire box. Recteq was happy to send me a new blower motor, which is great, but I am...
