Stampede what does everyone use to clean the grill

I love clean everythings ..😂 So when the Bull was new, & before I fired it up, I lined the doors with hi temp gasket felt tape. That prevents any smoke from sneaking out of the door gaps and staining the outside stainless steel … Next I use foil on the bottom grease pan…; and then just cook everything on a 1/2 sheet commercial aluminum cookie sheet along with a raise mesh grate.. Here’s some pictures of my grill and results …This way it’s very easy and simple to keep things nice and clean and you still get great results ! Great smoken to you all, El

I decided early on that I wasn't running my pellet grill up to 400F and back down to cooking temp before every cook to sterilize the old food stuck on the grates. So, I bring them in and just use a stainless coiled scrub pad to clean them up after each cook. If it was a long cook like butt, brisket or ribs, I will either soak in a tub like posted earlier or squirt them with some Simple Green HD Degreaser and scrub them up. I'm getting pretty fast at it. I also clean out my ash. Both in the drum and fire pot. Cleaning the grates saves some time when I start up. I can be cooking in the time it takes to rise to bbq temp and not worry about bacteria on the grates. It's nice to open the pit and find it has clean grates.

The inside of the drum gets flakey black stuff if I do a higher temp cook. So, I use balled foil, a brush or whatever else it takes to get the loose flakes off.

My side smoke box is building a thick tar like coating and is becoming a problem with some of it dropping on food. I'm going to have to clean it out soon.

For the outside, anything with oxalic acid will work wonders. Read the labels.

Some simple green on the stainless surfaces "outside", inside gets nothing but some vaccum work for the obvious reasons and I keep the grates and drip pan clean, the rest is good ole seasoning far as I'm concerned. :)

I had been using Simple Green HD on the grates. Wife bought some Dawn Powerwash foaming spray. It was dramatically faster in cutting the grease and burned on guck. Recommend it.

I use LA's Awesome cleaner and bar keepers friend on the outside. Vacuum the inside with a bucket head vacuum. (I have two of these. One for cleaning, the other for pellet removal.)

I bought a rabbit cage pen bottom to soak the grates with LA's Awesome (diluted) and my Pressure washer for deep cleaning of the grates. Overkill?

Yes, Dawn Powerwash is awesome. I spray it on the grates to loosen the gunk and then put the grates in the dishwasher.

Side note- does anyone else think the scented Powerwash reacts with the grate residue and smells like cow manure, or is it just me?? Maybe I just spent too much time around 💩 in my life, but think I’m going to try the unscented kind next time 😆.

I wanted to add what I have found to be the PERFECT tool for cleaning grease and burnt on goodness off the drip/grease pan. I saw a 9 inch hand ice scraper in the garage a few weeks ago, and thought "hey this might just be the perfect heavy duty plastic hand tool, for scraping up the built up gunk without marring/scratching the steel"? I am here to tell ya that this is a wonderful solution, no need for flimsy plastic scrapers or metal scrapers which scratch up the stainless pan. :)

I forgot to mention that I have a power steam machine that I sometimes use on my grills. Good for getting grease off without using any kind of soap or chemical, but I only use it for deep cleaning.

I usually sweep mine out, clean the grates, re-foil the pan below the grates and try to clean up the outside a little. Is there any direction on deep cleaning? Or does the recteq need a deep cleaning? If so, what does that look like?

I will Take my grates out and soak them if they are really caked up. I have a plastic tote that fit both. I place them in there with hot water and a dishwasher pod for 24hrs. Pull them out and basically wipe them off. Almost brand new. I have used dawn dishwashing liquid to soak but it does take longer to get them half as clean. Happy Memorial Day everyone!
