No sir, you keep your same account and your username, but you will have an option to change your username if you would like.

It's probably not worth it.

It allows you to browse the site without any ads and helps keep the forum online as the money goes to hosting and software bills.

Having lived on the Internet since the days it was still text-based and participated (and moderated) a handful of forums over the years, this one is a winner. Sure, I could join "Ray's Club", or other online information exchanges, but this is the one that I've taken away the most information, has had fewer keyboard warrior wars, and doesn't bombard me with spam.

The only downside is many here will make a post about a "shiny new whatever" which has compelled me to purchase said "shiny new whatever."

Thanks, but I wasn't trying to be mean, nasty or even sarcastic.

Sure there are some perks, https://www.recteqforum.com/threads/rectecforum-premium-membership-perks.580/, but at the end of the day they aren't ground breaking it anything fancy.

Having immediate access to post in the classifieds forum is more focused to new members. Not someone who's been here for a minute and already has access.

The end of the day the funds go to helping keep the site online. Hosting and software license fees alone aren't cheap.

Maybe I look at this wrong, but if someone asks if supporting the site at $20/year is worth it, then it's possibly not worth it for them.

I'm just being brutally honest, maybe to honest? No sarcasm, or snarkiness here.

And, that’s the best reason for upgrading; it helps keep this forum going and allows us to share knowledge and experiences. Thanks, @Mike, for all you do to give us a place to do that!

This is a great on-line community and I would miss it if it were no longer here. I think others would too.
