I have owned 2 Thermopens and found them to be very accurate. They just didn't last very long though. There is a very thin wire that goes around the hinge area to the probe and eventually this wire would break with repeated folding. It isn't a very good design.

I then switched to Inkbird IHT-1P thermometers and now have owned 2 of these for several years with better luck. They read just as accurate and seem to last longer. They also only cost $24.

One of my hobbies is home brewing and I have always used an Inkbird temperature controller on my fermenter and kegerator so I was familiar with the company. This was why I was comfortable trying their thermometer. I think they are very good and they are also rechargeable. I am not going back to the more expensive Thermopens. I just bought a Recteq smoker and have no affiliation with any of these companies.

Another Thermapen One sale from Chad’s BBQ YouTube channel, good for I believe today and perhaps tomorrow only. Also a pretty good video on cooking pork steaks on a non-recteq pellet grill, which I may own that particular model. Also the pecan shell pellets are so interesting, and expensive at the same time. Others here like them, my initial order should be here tomorrow.

Did youn order the Pecan shell pellets through Amazon? I see they have them priced at $33.95/20 lbs. Ouch on the price!

Yes, WAY more than I would be willing to pay on a regular basis. I can buy two 40# bags of Pitt Boss pellets from Lowe’s for only $4 more than one 20# box of these. Some swear by them so perhaps they may have a niche use here for me.

Not sure how long this code's good fore

I really don't need a second one
But at this price (and if I get back to the Yard early enough this week), I may try to find my way over to their Store and get a second one to keep in the Gasser too

Whatever your IR thermometer of choice, two is not too many if you cook outdoors on multiple grills and/or cook food indoors. I have 2 TheraPens and a FireBoard Spark, and I’m always searching for one of them. The wife also has a ThermaPen from Academy, but she keeps it hidden from me!

Kinda Cliche, but maybe I'll get the "Smoke" for the BULL and keep the current Red one in the Gasser
We're really liking the Chef IQ Catherine got me for my B'day
Can't say I've ever cooked a more perfectly done Steak

You did not need one but hey, two is twice as good! 🤣🤣🤣
True, but at 37% off, I couldn't pass it up ;)
Plus, two TheroPens satisfies my inherent laziness
Now I have one for the Bull and one for the Gasser
So this way, I won't have to:
Walk from the Gasser to the Smoker
Grab the TPOne
Walk back to the Gasser
Use the Probe
Then take it BACK to the Bull and put it away
#e[[, that's looking WAY too much like work 😵‍💫

My Thermopen doesn't weight that much, I can easy walk between the gasser (back yard) and smoker (front driveway) and survive :) And I keep it in the kitchen...

I hear what you're saying, but I too have multiple Thermopens. I equate it to having multiple screwdrivers, box wrenches, sockets, and tape measures. It's definitely an addiction to tools, but I am now used to having a "backup" to damn near every small tool I own...just in case. If I'm sharing a kitchen (indoors or outdoors) redundancy is pretty handy.

Several years ago, I went to help a friend do something and realized I left my cordless drill at home (almost 100 miles away). I went to the local Home Depot and bought another to get the job done. After that I thought, "Cool, now I have a backup!" (Yes, I am not very good at managing my discretionary spending)

Same here. I found a third one this week from our move that I forgot I had. It’s an earlier model. I don’t like carrying stuff in an apron, especially when I don’t always wear an apron, so I keep one outside and one inside. Plus I like my Spark also.
