High heat, slather it with butter and your favorite non-over powering rub. Rotate continually and it will be great. Forget the ‘smoke’ part. Hard to screw up corn on the grill, but many do. It’s not a low, slow, and smoke side dish.
I pull the husks back just enough to remove the silk fibers and then soak the cobs with the husks in place in a pan of water (with a little salt) for 20 min or so. The goal is to water log the husks to keep the corn moist on the grill. They I put them on the grill on medium heat for 20 min total rotating then by 90 degrees every 5 min so that each side is down for 5 min. Then they are ready to eat.
