Another ‘dual’ meal for the wife and I. I got fresh Red Snapper and locally made pasta in my Parmigiano Reggiano and butter sauce, she got a pork loin from Wild Fork and the same pasta, garnished with parsley. All cooked on the RT-700.

Coming to the end of proteins from Wild Fork. My last order in December was under my soon-to-end membership, and even though they told me in December 2023 that moving forward, I could still get free shipping with a $250+ order. Put $250+ in my cart today and shipping would be $100. Nope, not doing that. Took everything out but about $15, shipping still $100. Oh well, they were good to buy from, until they were not!

I had the same issue with Porter Road. They changed their shipping policy for my location in January. Minimum shipping is $45. That wipes out any value they had for me.

Inflation is not our friend! With rising product, labor and shipping costs, I am afraid these specialty sources just won’t be able to make it work in the limited markets they serve.

What I really liked about Wild Fork is that they offer so many products that were very comparable to say Whole Foods cuts and quality, so with free shipping with my membership, is was very affordable for me. And I’m willing to place a larger minimum order, say $250-$300. But when you add $100 shipping on that, I’m making a trip to Whole Foods or Sam’s or Costco. I love SRF and still buy some nice cuts from them, but I can’t afford them for ‘everyday’ proteins.

BTW, pretty disappointed in the selection and overall experience at the Harris Teeter protein coolers. They are a new experience for me but I was under the impression that they were similar to Whole Foods. Nothing ‘bad’ there, just doesn’t wow me either.

Reckon I shouldn't take for granted, all the constant supply of "fresh eggs" I get supplied to me locally.
Fresh, local eggs are the best, even when they are laid by white hens that produce white shells. However, if one has to pay for fresh eggs at the going price today, it makes the price of supermarket eggs look like a bargain. Spoken from someone who recently was buying eggs from the local farmers’ market, and now needs to pick up some eggs from Publix today! Not suggesting that local egg producers are ‘price gouging’, but they already have the hens, have everything they need to make more hens, and the price of chicken feed is pretty stable, so WTF? 🤔

Yes I feel very fortunate, my wifey is a nurse of 32 years and it's the father of one of her nurse friends at work who raises chickens for fun "his retirement gig" and he only charge us $2 a dozen for big beautiful brown eggs with big beautiful deep yellow yolks. The difference between fresh laid eggs from non stressed out well fed and taken care of chickens.......is truly amazing.
