I have issues with the app but recently found that there is a widget and thought I might find some resolve here. When testing the widget all I see on the widget is "My Recteq stats (YTD)". I was hoping for temp data on the widget. Are there settings for the widget that I am not seeing, I'm using a Samsung S24 phone?
So, the reason I am asking as I do cooks overnight often and recently had a fire on the Grill when the grill temp skyrocketed. Having the widget is a just a visual tool that would allow me to see temps without opening the app. Is the widget capable of doing that?

no the app has gone down hill just as their C/S. unfortunately you will probably need to set up a third party app like thermo works or Meater

I have had my RT-700 for 3 years and have always just used the downloaded Recteq app for interacting with the grill. I am using a Samsung 24+ phone and have not had a single problem and really enjoy being able to monitor the grill no matter where I am. I use the alarms both on my phone and on the Recteq app. What "widget" are you referring to?

If you go to Widgets on your phone, go to Recteq and you should see it there. Regarding Recteq support, I have not had any problems there, all my interactions with support have been great.
