Hi, I just ordered RT1250 last Friday and now looking into what type/brand of pellets everybody using and recommending. I would like something that is available locally (HD. Lowes, Ace, Walmart, etc). I had a Pit Boss smoker before that I just sold and was using Pit Boss pellets. Walmart and Lowes had the best price for it.

Pellet preference is like talking motor oil on an auto forum.. everyone has their fav and in the end they essentially do the same thing. You should be fine with the Pit Boss.. I have been using that and a mix of Kingsford since some of us have a lifetime supply when Lowes priced them super low for a while. It will burn, smoke, make heat and cook your meals.

Most of all enjoy that 1250 & welcome aboard! Post pics of your 1st cook :)

i noticed some really cheap pellets at lowes recently. it specifically said great for pellet grills and cooking. but didn’t say wood type.

Has anyone tried the Rural King brand? I seen that a few weeks ago. I bought the Pit Boss because they were only $1 more per bag. I did buy one bag to try out but haven’t tried it as I didn’t want to empty the hopper

Thanks... I might try Bear Mountain next time from Home Depot. $30.92 per 40 Lbs bag with free delivery.
