Hi Guys,
It's been awhile. I'm smoking all the time. However I just had major back surgery so it will be a while before I can smoke or do much of anything for awhile. As you know, smoking is an addicition so I am definitely going through withdrawals.

My son is having an outdoor kitchen built and is looking for a quality gas (propane) grill, built in. He also wants a built in griddle and drawers and is hoping they match. Money is not really an issue, but having to overspend for something when there is another grill that is amazing at a more reasonable price is always good too. I'm just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on what to look at or not look at. I'm in rehab (leaving tomorrow after 22 days and two surgeries). I have time to do the research.

You are all the experts and I know many of you have created amazing outdoor spaces. I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion.

Thanks so much!
Beth

Don’t own one and not affiliated but I might look seriously at FireMajic grills. Napoleon is another fine brand.
Sorry about your back issues and hoping the fix makes life better. I was just wondering where you had been. Good luck and all the best!

So glad you stopped by @BethV; you have been missed. Thoughts and prayers for quick and complete healing from your surgery.

I have a Napoleon gas grill that I like very much, but I don’t think they make a matching built-in griddle. I’m sure some folks will be along shortly with some good recommendations.

Get well soon!

Thanks!

Beth, good to hear from you again. I hope you make a full recovery soon.

I recall reading about griddles a while back when considering one. The commercial use, where consecutive items are cooked one after the other, draws the heat out of thin steel plates. So, restaurants like to get the thick plates on their griddles. Home units are likely not made with that criteria in mind.

I did look at some of the griddles at Chef's Toys, in Torrance a couple years ago. They didn't have a big selection, but they did have some different sizes of commercial griddles. Chef's Toys has a website and multiple locations. Also, check on the web. BBQ Guys is the big retailer. Blaze grills and griddles are pretty nice for a home unit.

Beth, fingers crossed for your recovery. It has been a while since we heard from you. Please don't be a stranger.

I need to update this. My son and I spent some time on this today and he decided to go with Lynx for the grill and drawers and storage. He still needs a good propane griddle if anyone has recommendations.
Beth, welcome back. You beat me to the point. I have been very impressed with my Lynx Professional 36”. It is way better than the Sedona series by the way. It has a lifetime warranty to the original owner and is a dream to cook on. I admit it is a little pricy but it is the only grill that beat the Hestan that I had that gave me some problems. I wished they were still in Carson but alas, they moved to Mississippi (?) a few years ago. My unit is configured with 2 brass burners and a trident burner but I also purchased optional 2 tridents incase I want to go crazy. It comes with a rotisserie that is capable of holding a 50lb turkey I don’t think you can go wrong. Also, stay away from their computer based version. It doesn’t have a great history.

Edit: I just realized I forgot to mention for your built in solution, Lynx makes all the accoutrements you could ever need for a built in solution and the grade of stainless they use works very well in SoCal even near the ocean.

This is all great information. Thank you so much.

I went with the Blaze griddle and 2-top bas burner. They are 100% 304 Stainless, and the Griddle surface is 1/2" thick. A much better cooking experience than the cold rolled steel surface. Here's a couple pic's. I'm seeing them on sale for around $2300, which is pretty good considering I paid $3k for mine.

Hope you are feeling better soon!
