Grill(s) owned
  1. Road Warrior 340P
I bought the portable smoker Road Warrior 340 for camping. I will use it once, maybe twice a year.

I removed all the pellets from the hopper and vacuumed out the best I could.

My concern is the pellets that are still in the auger. Should they absorb moisture and expand they could jam the auger.

Is there a simple way to get them out? (Like purge auger) (Dare I say I have the Purge Auger feature on my Traeger. LOL)

Thanks in advance!

You can put your grill into Test Mode and navigate to the Auger. That’ll turn the auger on without running the grill. There are videos on YouTube just, search on “Recteq test mode” or look it up in your owner’s manual. I can never remember without looking it up.

Sounds Great! I will give it a try!
Thank you!

I think it’s wise that you’re thinking of clearing the auger chamber if you only use the grill that seldom. While I have never cleared mine (RT-700), I use it often enough that it gets cleared and reloaded when I cook.

But the analogy I use is lawn equipment. If you use regular gas, there’s a good chance the carburetor will get gummed up. The fuel is in the lines and carburetor for longer periods…especially a long time during winter. I have successfully only used non-ethanol gas in my lawn equipment for over 15 years to preclude that from happening. There are other ways to do it but that’s how I’ve done it. I apologize for getting off-topic.

Ah that side of things telling us we need corn alcohol in our gas. If you don’t use it to make corn liquor why use it at all 🤣 That sickening green color is not our ICE’s friend.
