They use a different voltage than the United States. I immediately fried something the day I landed here. I'm terrified to plug in my recteq. Will I need a transformer? or will it be fine? I wasn't able to find in the owners manual what kind of voltage it work on

I haven’t looked in your manual, but in the Features section of the recteq web site they say the grills are 110V AC w/GFCI outlet. I expect you will need a voltage converter and a power outlet adapter.

We lived in Frankfurt AM Germany 1970-1975.

At that time was 240V 50Hz.

We had stepdown transformers to convert 240V to 120V. Frequency still stayed at 50Hz (analog clocks affected).

As noted above, both the voltage AND the frequency of the power are different. If you’re in the military or DoD civilian (contractor ?), go to the BX or PX and ask for a converter. I’m pretty sure they would have something that you can use.
