Grill(s) owned
  1. Bullseye B380 Deluxe
I have asked two questions and have received a few answers that are not quite what I need. I have had a Big Green Egg (Sold). Green Mountain Grill (Small unit for camping, Worn Out). And a Weber Kettle Sold). Sold units were when we went full time living in a motorhome. We are now back in a Brick and Mortar home. I am looking for one grill, if it exists, to grill steaks, burgers and ALSO be able to cook a pork butt Low and Slow. I thought the Bullseye Deluxe was it but seeing responses and temp reviews I am not convinced. Is there a Recteq Grill that would fit my needs? This is for two people so it does not need to be full size. Thanks for your info.

Well, it depends. I don’t have a 380-series grill, but here’s my take. You can probably do both hi-temp grilling and occasional low-and-slow smoking on a B-380 Deluxe if you pay attention to grease management. The 380 series was designed primarily as a high-temperature grill and doesn’t have a drip pan to catch grease. You can improvise one and get by for occasional cooks. If you plan to do a lot of low-and-slow cooks with it, however; I think it would be a PITA.

OTOH, one of the smaller smoker/grills like the Patio Legend 400 or Deck Boss 800 can do a better job of low-and-slow cooks without the grease management issues while still doing a respectable job of cooking a steak or burgers, especially if you add a set of Grill Grates. IMO, they would be less hassle than trying to deal with grease management issues on the B-380 Deluxe. YMMV

IMO, you sold one of the best cookers there is (BGE) to smoke slow and also grill hot and fast. I get why they can be a challenge-they need a lot more ‘attention’ to perform their best. I had one for I think 15 years before gifting it to my SIL, who still uses it. I’ve owned several recteq pellet grills since then, including two 380-series grills, and I haven’t found any of them to be especially great at grilling AND smoking. recteq has introduced a couple of models in the last year or so (which I have no experience with) that might change my mind, but the 380-series grills are just more suitable for grilling rather than smoking. Looking at it from a different perspective, I’ve not been disappointed in any recteq pellet grills to grill a nice burger, but some don’t work well on a low and slow cook.

I've been checking daily for any youtube reviews on the grill. I'm a little surprised not one influencers has put anything out really yet.

I’ve been doing the same. I thought the minute they announced it they would let their YouTube folks post videos to amp up the hype. Instead……crickets.

🤔 Is that a loud indication of availability?

Have you considered the Dual Fire?

I've seen a few videos now. If you search on Youtube - filter by upload date and there a few out there. Not many folks doing actual cooks.

The far left is the Smoke/Off/Grill mode. The two middle ones control the auger speeds(in grill mode) and the far right adjust how much flame you want for the sear side.

Does seem like this could replace a gas grill.
