Hello I have the RT 700 With a front folding shelf has anybody ever moved the the round under the shelf to a different location

People have mounted it to the front shelf and I have seen where someone mounted it to the side shelf too. I haven't moved mine yet though.

I moved my shelf up to the bottom edge of the lid. It's more user friendly up higher and I can see the ring better.

Josh welcome to the forums as a new recteq forum member.
I agree the front folding shelf height is pretty low especially for taller folks. I'm all about modifying these grills and pretty much everything else I owned over the years to fit my needs and have done plenty of them. The only problem I see with your front shelf modification is there is very little room left between the lids bull horn handles and the raised up shelf for items on the shelf with the lid closed. I've experienced some cook clearance issues using the front folding shelf in it's normal mounting location with the lid closed and then I use the side controller shelf, top of the smoke box or hopper lid if necessary. I decided to raise the whole grill up with my version of the storage cart modification to fit my 6' 3" height and provide the grill storage needs I was looking for.
