Thanks for recommendation, I am not familiar so will look that up. Grilled up some yummy NY strips yesterday, the sear and crispy beef fat has sorely been missed the last few years. :)
Will post a pick of the SnS cookng grate this weekend in case you get interested.

The slow n sear is on my list as well.

I have a major soft spot for the 22" Weber Kettles. I have loved them many different times through the last 50 years. My favorite accessory has always been the rotisserie ring. With a couple of the charcoal dividers, there really is no better Backyard rotisserie set up (in my opinion).

I won't go back to the Weber because I bought the bullseye deluxe. I put on the Aura cast iron grill and have never looked back but this is still year one.

You will never get better than a Weber 22" or a PK grill for just plain great "form, fit, and function". The PK's will take a beating and still cook like champs.

all this is just my 2 cents.

I've had mine over 40 years......on my fifth set of grill grates. I've bought all 3 daughters Weber 22's. I want them to be better than me on it, and put their men to shame over a fire. I'm 64. In the 80's I had a blast with my Weber, my Beir Meister, 80's rock n roll and all the sweet young thangs that the Bay Area had to offer.......I worked hard, and I partied harder.........lotta great memories, a few scars, and no regrets.......
Quick update.....my youngest (34) was scared of fire. So....I walked her thru chicken sates for her starter. We Facetimed and marinated. Next day we Facetimed from fire build, to finish. I was doing exactly the same thing as her jus 900 miles away......I cooked for her sister, so it was especially enjoyable for me. Her husband said it was the best chicken he's ever had. He always overcooks. Her kids loved it.

I know this is a smart ass thing people say, but i mean it from the heart....

Cool story bro.....

Just for Jim, here's the cart I just built for my 26" after too many years bending my 6'2" over a weber.

Will that lid cover a chicken? 15# turkey? I have a Burn Shop Santa Maria attachment w/rotisserie attachment , and the Wyldside Santa Maria has two rotisserie attachments. Both are fun to use, but think I’d get more use from a rotisserie that has a lid, or leave the lid off if you don’t need it.

Yes.

Chickens and beef work well.

After this cook I can get some radial dimensions

The dome of the lid measures 6" at the center. The spit rod is about 1.5 inches down on the ring. So, radial clearance is around 7.5" (15" inches diameter of meat). Plenty of space. My rotisserie setup is from Weber, not sure how the aftermarket units measure up.

Here's a chicken on the Weber rotisserie setup. Plenty of room

This is a 6.5 lb bone in beef rib roast, also plenty of room.

It's been long enough and I have been debating getting another Weber charcoal grill, so off to Home Depot I went today and got that bad boy put together after work. Build quality is still pretty damn good and I thankfully remembered how to cook on one.......boy oh boy were those 1/3 pound burgers from my steer oh so good!!!! Just cannot beat or imitate a proper charcoal or open wood fire finish/cook in particular for beef, this will compliment the rest of my cooking toys quite nicely. :)
I bought a new Weber 22" two weeks ago, the red version w/ash pan and love it. Had one 25 yrs ago until it got smashed when a fence fell on it. Used a Chargriller since, but it finally rusted out last year and I needed another charcoal grill to go along with my Backyard Beast. While I love my Beast, it can't duplicate the taste of chicken wings or hamburgers over a charcoal fire.

along with that Texas craft beer. 🤣

I will NEVER part ways with my weber kettle. I would miss the OEM factory table attached to it!
Mine is the earlier one with the bigger (fiberglass?) table before they started making them with the smaller shorter metal table that rust, and the newer ones have no edge to keep things from sliding off from it.

This is the exact one i have. And we still use it, ALOT, even though i have other grills and smokers.
