It's been long enough and I have been debating getting another Weber charcoal grill, so off to Home Depot I went today and got that bad boy put together after work. Build quality is still pretty damn good and I thankfully remembered how to cook on one.......boy oh boy were those 1/3 pound burgers from my steer oh so good!!!! Just cannot beat or imitate a proper charcoal or open wood fire finish/cook in particular for beef, this will compliment the rest of my cooking toys quite nicely. :)

I've got an inherited 1970s 26" with the flat lid. Some of the porcelain has failed, but a little rattle can keeps it looking good. She's my secret weapon for reverse searing steaks. Plus, brats and linguica over hardwood lump are hard to beat.

I have to admit, I have always had a Weber kettle in various flavors/versions over the decades. When the last one essentially self-destructed for a second time, I moved on to a PK Grill following the enabling of a local buddy of mine and @Greg Jones . Now that I have to scoop out the ash manually between cooks, there is definitely a soft spot in my heart for the ash dump on the good old 22" Weber. Sure the PK has more temperature control and is built like a tank, but I pretty much only ever do hot zone/cool zone anyway over lump charcoal. I totally get where you're coming from on this grilling staple for most of us. Like it or not, you are now an enabler @Motodad1776 .

I had a 22” Weber of one flavor or another for decades. Loved them, would never speak badly of them… then I bought a PK. 🧨 Nothing beats a PK all day! PS: don’t scoop the ash from a PK, pop off the lid and the grate and lift off the base, and dump it. I never scoop out ash from my PK.

As I've mentioned I have an older pk too and it has its place but I can't cook 8 ribeyes, 8 potatoes and 8 cobbets at the same time. But my 26" can. Throw in the three 21" pro q excel stacker, 18 and 22" wsm, recteq, medium spicewine and the Klose and I can feed a bunch of folks.

Been there and done that with the Webers.
Went to the PK 360.
When it comes to cleaning, hang the bucket, pull the plug, sweep out the ash with an old paint brush. Put on a set of grill grates, load up some B&B and throw on the ribeyes
Don't think it gets any better than that. IF

I've had mine over 40 years......on my fifth set of grill grates. I've bought all 3 daughters Weber 22's. I want them to be better than me on it, and put their men to shame over a fire. I'm 64. In the 80's I had a blast with my Weber, my Beir Meister, 80's rock n roll and all the sweet young thangs that the Bay Area had to offer.......I worked hard, and I partied harder.........lotta great memories, a few scars, and no regrets.......

I have three Recteqs, but love my 1960 cast iron Atlanta Stove Works charcoal grill just as much. My dad gave it to me many years ago and it makes the best seared ribeye I have ever had. Sometimes you just have to revert to the charcoal!

I love my Weber Performer and that made buying a RT Bullseye and easy decision. They compliment each other well and I can use all my Weber accessories on either one.

I experimented cooking my 1st ribeye last night on the bullseye and it was fantastic. 225 for about 49 mins then cranked it to 500 for the sear. I was planning on searing on the Weber but the bullseye only took about 5 minutes to get there!

I don't think you went wrong. I have a Master Touch Weber 22 from Lowes that was mis-priced at like 65 or something ridiculous, assembled. They honored the price and loaded it up.
I hate the cooking grates on the Weber because they are Plated, but S&S makes a solid SS model with the flip up quad that fits perfect and works as good. I only looked because my gaaser lost a burner and I saw back burn and my wife was Jonesing for grilled food. I have never regretted that purchase even 10 years later. The gasser received cast SS burners recently and is going on 24 years with only two warrantied burner replacements.
Happy cooking 🥂

I recommened getting yourself a sns slow and sear attachment for your weber. I have one and use it most of the time I cook on my weber.

Thanks for recommendation, I am not familiar so will look that up. Grilled up some yummy NY strips yesterday, the sear and crispy beef fat has sorely been missed the last few years. :)

I’m with you! I bought a Weber kettle grill last year and have been enjoying nicely seared steaks and chops. I also cook Chilean sea bass in a cast iron pan on it so I don’t stink up the house.

Can’t beat the taste of a flame kissed steak.

Aw, come on guys; I’ve been trying to leave that messy charcoal behind for years and now you go and do this. I already have more grills than I can use at any given time. No, NO, NO!

I've got a RT 590, a Green Egg ( my son left here ) a Blackstone Flat Top & a Weber gas grill. They all have their place. That being said my favorite combo is a smoke on the 590 & then finish steaks off with a really short high Temp sear on the Weber.
